Thankful May 2023
I MEANT for this blog to be a place where I shared my recovery story. Recovery continues to be elusive.
I AM making progress in some respects, but it is very slow going and, much of what I share here, ends up being my own processing and an attempt to increase understanding of mental health issues and, specifically anorexia (which IS fitting this month, as it is Mental Health Awareness Month in May). Sometimes it is both at once- my own processing in an attempt to help ME understand my own mental health issues and my own mindset concerning my eating disorder.
Anyway---
Years ago I used to follow a blog that has since ceased being updated. 😢
I hate it when that happens...but life...it DOES have a way of moving forward and sometimes blogging is just for a season. Nevertheless, I loved this blog and was often inspired by it. Since, I originally hoped my little space in the blog-o-sphere here would also be a place of inspiration....and since I know it is most definitely NOT that yet....I thought I would take over the "Thankful" posts Jamie Jo used to do years ago.
Counting my blessings and focusing on gratitude is excellent for my mental health and probably so much more fun to read about than my constant never-ending (so far) struggles too.
So here goes:
Thankful Post #1.
Thankful for-- My family. I try to keep them as anonymous as possible here because of the sensitive and personal subject of many of my posts. So you'll have to trust me that they are beautiful, wonderful, awesome people who make the world a better place just by being in it. The fact that I get to be their wife/mother is a huge, tremendous, humbling blessing I do NOT deserve.
Thankful for-- My faith. I have not been real focused on sharing my faith too much here but, in life, I try to make it central to all I do. I strive to make my Catholic Christian beliefs led me & influence me in everything I do. Thankful that Jesus is my God! He never lets me down (though I let Him down daily.)
Thankful for--Sitting outside in our beautiful sunshine-y weather with cool breezes blowing and my children playing outside in the yard with their neighborhood friends laughing and getting messy and dirty and just being kids.
Thankful for-- My treatment team of professional who support me and encourage me and are ALWAYS there for me when I need them.
I have an amazing dietician, a treasured and wise Spiritual Director, a kind, patient therapist, an understanding psychiatrist, and caring, devoted PCP all working to help ME get healthy! What a blessing!
Hello! Would you believe I followed Jamie Jo as too?!?! She was one of my very favorite bloggers!!! I am happy you are doing Thankful posts. I am Thankful to have met you here in Blogland. I am Thankful for Mental Health Awareness Month. And I am Thankful you have your team to help you get healthy! (Me too!) P.S. Fellow devout Catholic here too!
