The soundtrack in my mind

I used to love this song:

I heard it yesterday and realized my perspective had changed....

In treatment, they called eating disorders "ED." They talk about the disorder as though it is a separate person living in the brain of those afflicted. That is an incredibly accurate description.

So...when I listened to this song I recognized ED's voice loudly and clearly. Imagine this song playing in a loop in your head all day long...but usually with a role reversal (though it DOES work both ways)...

How do [you] get through one night without [me]
If [you] had to live without [me]
What kinda life would that be
Oh you, you need [me] in [your life], need [me] to hold
[I'm your] world, [your] heart, [your] soul

If [I] ever leave
Well, baby [I] would take away everything
Good in [your] life
And tell me now

How do [you] live without [me]?
I want to know
How do [you] breathe without [me]?
If [I] ever go
How do [you] ever, ever survive
How do [you], how do [you], oh how do [you] live

Without [me]
There'd be no sun in [your] sky
There would be no love in [your] life
There'd be no world left for [you]

And you, well baby, [you] I don't know what [you] would do
[You'd] be lost if [you] lost [me]

If [I] ever leave
Well, baby [I] would take away everything
Real in [your] life
And tell me now

Please tell me baby how do [you] go on

If [I] ever leave
Well, baby [I] would take away everything
Need [me] with [you]

Baby don't you know that [I'm] everything

Good in [your] life

My dietician, who is an invaluable blessing and support in my life right now, randomly sent me this in a text last night:

I think THIS is a much better voice to have in your head....trying to listen for the still small voice of truth and love....the voice of Jesus whispering these lyrics into my head:

Who said that you weren't beautifulAnd that you didn't belong in your own skin?Who said that you were all aloneAnd that you're never gonna find love again?
So many little words, so many little liesThat have followed you all of your lifeLooking for the truth, look into your eyesAnd you'll see it's been there the whole time
Ooh, even when you were runningEven when you were hidingNever been a moment that you were not perfectly lovedWhen you barely believed itWhen your eyes couldn't see itEvery single moment, you've always been perfectly lovedOoh, perfectly lovedYou've always been perfectly
In the hands of the InfiniteAs the wounds of the world became HisSee the kindness Heaven has for youAnd how He's always been drawing you in
So many open doors (so many open doors), so many miracles (so many)That have followed you all of your lifeLooking for the truth (looking for the truth), look into your eyes (oh)And you'll see its been there the whole time
Ooh, even when you were runningEven when you were hidingNever been a moment that you were not perfectly lovedWhen you barely believed itWhen your eyes couldn't see itEvery single moment you've always been perfectly lovedOoh, perfectly lovedOoh
You're not a problemYou're not a mistakeDon't need fixing or solvingIn the arms of His grace
You're perfectly humanMade from the dustYou've got a heart, broken and scarred, yet perfectly loved
Oh, even when you were runningEven when you were hidingNever been a moment that you were not perfectly lovedWhen you barely believed it (when you barely believed it)When your eyes couldn't see itEvery single moment you've always been perfectly lovedPerfectly lovedYou've always been perfectly loved
OohPerfectly lovedYou have always been perfectly loved
